Russian language and education in Russian are one of the most important factors in strengthening cultural and humanitarian cooperation between Russia and other countries.

Russian is the sixth most widely spoken language in the world after Spanish, Hindi, English and Chinese. He is considered a native of more than 160 million people.

Since 2010, events dedicated to the celebration of the International Day of the Russian Language have been held all over the world, and in 2021, for the first time, UNESCO officially congratulated on this holiday.

Now more than 200 million people speak Russian in the world.

The Russian language ranks second place in terms of Internet usage. Among the languages into which most books are translated, Russian is on the seventh place and on the fourth - as the language from which it is translated most often.

Russian has the status of the state and official language in Russia, Belarus, the official language of institutions in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, the language of interethnic communication in Tajikistan and other countries.

Russian is the official or working language in a number of international organizations: the UN, UNESCO, IAEA, SCO, OSCE, CIS, EurAsEC, ATS, CSTO.

Most people study Russian for practical reasons: the desire to get a good education, to secure a competitive advantage in employment. Russian speaking person has the opportunity to engage in business and scientific cooperation not only with Russia, but also with the countries of the post-Soviet space, where Russian is used as the language of interethnic communication.

The Russian language courses are open at 66 Russian Houses in 58 countries of the near and far abroad (including 10 countries of the post-Soviet space).

At the courses, special attention is paid to their social and professional orientation, the orientation of teaching to various target audiences: employees of government departments and services, banks, travel agencies; children of compatriots living abroad, and children from mixed marriages.

Rossotrudnichestvo and Russian Houses abroad annually conduct cultural, educational, scientific and methodological events aimed at popularizing the Russian language, stimulating the interest of foreign citizens in its study, as well as improving the level of its teaching outside of Russia.
